For now, anyway, the domination extends even into the water.
On the day that it was announced that Hendricken swimmer Max Miranda would be trying out for the U.S Olympic Swim Team, Miranda and the Hawks went out and defeated the La Salle Academy Rams at McDermott Pool, 64-30.
Troy Pina got the Hawks started off right with a win in the 50 free-style, coming in at 0:24.05. After La Salle grabbed the win in the 100 free, Lucas Stencel of the Hawks came back to win the 100 backstroke with a time of 0:57.84, which followed by a Ram victory in 100 backstroke.
The Hawks then took over for the rest of the meet, as Miranda won the 100 butterfly with a time of 0:51.80. Wins by Dillane Wehbe in the 200 free, Marc Andrews in the 200 IM, and Brendan Crowe in the 500 free helped the Hawks to increase their point advantage.
The 200 free relay team of Owen Schriber, John Beretta, Andrews, and Miranda posted a winning time of 1:36.85, while the 200 Medley relay team of Stencel, Miranda, Crispin Ferris, and Schriber posted a winning time of 1:49.29. The 400 free relay team of Stencel, Crowe and Wehbe closed out the meet the win. With the win, the Hawks move to 3-0 and will next face North Kingstown.
