1st Inning
Hawks in the 2015 Baseball State Title Series at McCoy Stadium
First, apologies in advance to all in Hawk Nation, on two counts - First, our coverage of the latter part of the spring season of Hawks' sports broke down to an extent, mainly due to our students' other school responsibilities. Second, while we intended to provide coverage of Game 1 at McCoy as the Hawks began their title defense against the Cumberland Clippers, we experienced some audio and wi-fi difficulties. We did out best, mostly to no avail.
We were able to straighten everything out for Game 2, and as a result, we were able to provide a delayed audio stream of all the action. Cam Brennan and Ben Macksoud provided the call as the Hawks - who've been uncharacteristically struggling with the bat for several games - rebounded from their 3-1 opening game loss by exploding for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings in Game 2 en route to a 9-0, series-tying win. Senior Mike McCaffrey was once again about as close to unhittable as a pitcher can be, yielding only two hits in yet another dominant performance.
The Hawks look to defend and capture the state title belt tonight at McCoy in Game 3. Matt Kennedy will be on the hill as our guys look to close out the season with a fourth consecutive state title and only a single loss on their record. The Network will be there once again, providing a delayed audio stream.
