On Wednesday afternoon our Unified volleyball team finished off their regular season with a spectacular three-set sweep of the Toll Gate Titans by scores of 25-20, 25-12, and 25-8. It was Senior Night for all of our fourth-year players, and they were each introduced before the game and congratulated for all of their great efforts.
The Hawks now move onto the first round of the playoffs, where they hope to defend their state title.
The Network was there with live coverage, and the entire game (with the exception of the first few minutes, as we had some minor wi-fi difficulties) can still be seen here on the site. DT Barron did a bang-up job on the play-by-play call of the game and was joined in the booth by veteran ace Stone Freeman. Ricky Yao handled the camera, and Mr. Feeny donned his social media hat for the duration of the contest. Couple this game with the in-school broadcast of the match against Cranston West, and we here at The Network have been privileged to have had the opportunity to watch two very good contests (it helps that our guys won on both occasions, of course) in which all the teams played well and displayed great sportsmanship.
In the first set of the match, our guys really showed off their skils as eight Hawks managed to score aces, and the team as a whole put together 13 three-hit volleys (they strung together 17 of those volleys in the next two games combined). In the second game the Hawks had two players lead the team with three points each, five of our guys were 100% on their serves, and Michael Hajjar had an unbelievable save, a play that can be seen right here -
After having taken the first two games, the Hawks had already won the match, but that didn't stop them from putting the petal to the metal, as they blew the doors off Pepin Gymnasium with a dominating 25-8 win for the sweep.
