This past Monday, September 22nd, the cross country team was once again at Goddard Park, this time to compete against Pilgrim and Cranston East in their second dual meet of the season. Coach Brennan held out runners Nicholas Celico, Grant Gauthier, Thomas Grizzetti, Michael Kiernan, Avery Ingegneri, and Thomas McMahon, because he felt that they wouldn't be needed in the meet. He felt that the rest of the Hawks could get the win.

Once the whistles blew, Hendricken quickly took the lead with senior Michael Potter at the front. Returning from a knee injury, Potter finished first with a time of 16:30. He was followed by Dom Parlato (also back from injury) and eleven other Hawks. Junior Matt Wilks finished ninth with a time of 17:46 and commented that he's looking forward to being a part of the Manchester squad this weekend. As they entered the woods, the Hawks widened their lead with the first 13 runners overall wearing green-and-gold. Maintaining their sizeable lead throughout the remainder of the contest, the Hawks continued to run a strong and determined race right through to the finish line.

The Hawks' next race is this Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the Manchester Invitational. They'll be taking seven runners from each of the three teams - freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity.
