Time to kick off The Network's sports season....no pun intended, of course, as we typically begin with one of our signature live talks shows from the opening of Hawks' football practice, outside under the sports pavillion. That opening show, however, will probably take place next week. Tomorrow morning, however, we'll have the opportunity to launch the sports season and the new Network website when we'll appear live on the John DePetro Show, on the radio on 630 WPRO am, and streamed live at this link.

Network stalwarts Stone Freeman and Cam Brennan, along with the voice of the basketball Hawks, Johnathan Feeny, and the Network's jack-of-all-trades Max Zweiner will step behind the mic with Mr. DePetro, a 1982 Hendricken alum and longtime radio personality here in Rhode Island. Mr. DePetro has been following the progress and evolution of The Hawks Sports Network and has been so impressed with the work that our kids are doing and the degree of quality, positive exposure for the school that he has actively sought out the school to offer his assistance, advice, and experience in any he can. He'll be visiting the school at some time in the near future to have a look at our entire setup.

He's convinced that as a result of this program, any of our students wishing to pursue a degree in communications will have a decided advantage both in the classroom, out in the field, and in their pursuit of job opportunities once they've completed their studies. With the internet, websites, and social media quickly beginning to supplant the "old" media, having this type of experience under their belts and as part of their portfolio will be a major benefit.

As a result of his generosity, the Network staff will present him with a token of our appreciation at some point during the broadcast. This is sure to be a great experience for ourt students, great exposure for the school, and an awesome way to start The Network year. So, if you have some time at 10 am tomorrow, be sure to tune in.
